artist: Yaroslav Nikolaevich Manukhin (aka: Jaroslav Nikolaevich Manuhin, Yaroslav Manuhin)

This is a fantastic image; Manukhin portrays Don Quixote at the moment where he "decides to take up his lance and sword to defend the helpless and destroy the wicked." In this unique composition, Cervantes's hero is full of strength, purpose and potential while his faithful sidekick, Sancho Panza, "a peasant who serves as a foil to Don Quixote's idealism", is shown cowering beside him.
