This is an example for why I have learned not say a piece is "finished" while it is still in my possession. Ideas change and previous concepts may no longer resonate for one reason or another, thus changing a composition a little here and there or entirely.
That is exactly what happened with the creation of this piece; only the clay frame fragments are all that remain from the original portrait that were then refashioned into an entirely new portrait that has more meaning and holds true today.
