Based on the original 1920s poster design for Soviet propaganda by Dmitry Moor, one of the main founders of Soviet political poster design.
The original title translated to, "Did you Volunteer?" or "Have you Volunteered?" which was very similar to British First World War recruitment posters featuring Lord Kitchener, which also inspired James Montgomery Flagg's very famous, Uncle Sam, I Want You, world war 1 poster; the use of the authoritative figure pointing at the viewer was a popular tactic for recruitment posters in particular for holding You, the citizen, accountable if you did not do your duty and serve your country.
