art restoration vintage poster art gallery collectible: La Bougie Colin – “Fouette le Moteur” (c.1930) original lithograph
This original French advertising poster is a standout for any art restoration vintage poster art gallery collection. Bursting with automotive-era energy, a lively green spark plug dashes across a vivid red ground, candle in hand (a playful nod to “bougie”). It’s a striking conversation piece that elevates a home office, showroom, or gallery wall with authentic 1930s charm.
Printed by Rouffe, Paris and attributed to the French painter and printmaker Paul-Albert Besnard (1849–1934), this large-format lithograph dates to around 1930. Dimensions: approximately 31.5 x 47.25 in. Condition is Good, with honest age and display wear: toning and wear along the edges, minor paper loss at the upper right, soft fold impressions across the image, oxidation on the black outline around the character, and a printing overstrike at the foot and in the margins. A strong candidate for light, professional conservation if desired, or enjoy as-is for its period patina.
